Króneon (2017)

Embark on a thought-provoking puzzle-adventure as Li, who must save his beloved grandfather from unknown creatures. To succeed, solve puzzles by time traveling through the mysterious 'fridge', which allows you to experience the world from different perspectives.

Story

In Króneon, Li, a young boy, lives in two worlds: his inner world, where strict yet comforting rules he has built over time apply, and the external reality he barely acknowledges. However, his connection with his grandfather is the only link between these realities. Unfortunately, Li's grandpa, the only one who truly understands him, has been kidnapped by enigmatic gray creatures

Handled with great care, Króneon delicately explores the experiences of mentally divergent individuals, particularly those with autism, through its poignant metaphor of dual worlds and the bond between Li and his grandpa.

Króneon features a unique visual blend of low-poly models and hand-drawn watercolor backgrounds, creating a charming and serene atmosphere. This visual style is complemented by a peaceful and engaging piano score, enhancing the emotional depth and immersive experience of Li's journey. The calming melodies provide a soothing backdrop that enriches the game's reflective and meditative qualities.

Króneon was conceptualized and created of the LEIVA program at the National Center of Arts. LEIVA, the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Experimentation and Innovation with Video Games and Interactive Art, is a collaborative space that explores new narrative, aesthetic, and technological possibilities in gaming.

The game was exhibited from August 24, 2017, at the Manuel Felguérez Gallery, National Center of Arts, Mexico City.
